As I said in the twitter 101 post, twitter is not facebook. One of the main differences between twitter and facebook is the volume of posts that you can post without irritating people. On facebook if you post something more than 5 times people will begin to throw virtual rotten vegetables at you. On twitter I can post the same thing 100 times and some of my followers still won’t have seen it once.
Why is it this way?
#1. I can follow a lot more people on twitter than facebook. Facebook friends stop at 5000. I can have millions of twitter followers. A bigger audience means a bigger % of your people will miss your posts if you only post it once.
#2. Facebook is like talking to someone in person. Twitter is more like watching TV. You would be annoyed if you were having a conversation and a person repeated the same story, but you watch the same TV commercials 50 times and don’t think anything of it.
What does Social Jukebox (Tweet JukeBox) do?
Social Jukebox allows you to repeat tweet your favorite tweets. It allows you to “schedule” your tweets. What makes Social Jukebox so much cooler than all the other scheduling software is that you don’t have to continually schedule your tweets. You set up the schedule one time and set it to go and it randomly repeats your favorite tweets until you tell it to stop. Automatically. I use this website to tweet things 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This is super handy because obviously it would be really tough for me to do that manually and just like any good TV ad the more times people see it the better chance your message has of sinking home.
How does it work?
After you place your tweets into your jukeboxes then you have to setup a schedule. For example, my Net Apostles jukebox tweet something every 2 1/2 hours. Once it runs through the whole list of tweets one time it resets the list and randomly goes through it again. Have multiple lists allows you to prioritize which things you want tweeted more and which things are fine just tweeting out every once and a while. You can also set different start times and end times during the day and even not have it tweet at all on certain days of the week. It’s very flexible.
How much does it cost?
Well there are multiple versions. The free version which allows you 300 tweets. The first level of the paid version is $13 a month or $120 for the year and bumps you up to 5000 tweets.
